Boardgames Remix Launch night

07Dec10

OK, so the party season has definitely kicked off. We’re a week into December and already the diary’s pretty much full of Christmassy events (including one entry on the 16th December that just says ‘getting pissed’ – no idea where or why).

And among the drunken revelry there’s time for some games stuff. Last night was the launch of the Boardgames Remix Kit I mentioned last week. It all took place at The Book Club in Shoreditch (nice place), and the emphasis, as with all these things, was on the boozing rather than the playing, but I managed to get in a couple of games of remixed Trivial Pursuit, which was actually pretty good.

Granted, we didn’t follow the rules to the letter, and – as with every game of Trivial Pursuit ever played – we ended up just reading the cards. But at least it wasn’t accompanied by the inevitable feeling that the same smug tosser would win it and we’d have an argument over whether they’re called ‘cheeses’ or ‘wedges’.

Didn’t get a chance to road-test the Scrabble or Monopoly remixes, but maybe that’s something for the Christmas break.

Met some good folks there too, so all in all a very fine night. Big thanks to everyone at Hide&Seek, and particularly Peter Law, for all their good work.
